From date of order to arrival in St. Louis, Missouri USA took 9 days. I expected 2 weeks or more. The figures are crisp with little flash and I am excited about painting up the Picts to add to my Arthurians. My Arthurian army is a cross between John Whyte's book series and the King Arthur movie with Clive Owen (which I greatly enjoy, btw). Just thought I would pass my experience along. |

I don't think I have ever received anything from them that fast, but they have always been reliable. |

A lot of people gripe about Foundry (Their prices, etc.), but overall and in the long run you get great figures and great service. |

Wargames Foundry AWI figures are rather affordable. This is primarily due to the blister count of 8, rather than most manufacturers 6. I would guess that this is due to the mold capacity and the labor costs of casting 8 and then packaging as 6. Years ago they were notoriously expensive, by philosophy and design. However new management made their pricing more rational. |

I've always liked their figures, though on the dear side. |

I think the flak they got was from not selling ancient and dark ages with shields |
John the OFM | 09 Aug 2021 11:00 a.m. PST |
Part of the flack also was the decision to "retire" whole ranges for years at a time, and then suddenly bring them back. To be greeted with cynicism rather than praise. Once again, that marketing genius was replaced by saner heads and new management. |

Yes, I remember the ACW figs disappeared in total for a while. |

John the OFM, i was not aware foundry had new management, i always thought it was Ansell family run through and through! |

Wargames Foundry AWI figures are rather affordable I guess affordability is in the eye of the beholder but 8 figures packs at £14.00 GBP seems quite pricey to me. Foundry is closing in on £2.00 GBP per foot figure. These sculpts go back 30 years so one would think that any input costs would have been payed back many times over. |

absolutely agree Marcus. Most of the figures /ranges they offer are still standing nicely beside newer ones however they were cast more than 30 years ago and beside the metal cost they should be offered at a lower price. I agree at 14,. GBP pr pack of 8 figures that is still too much. also the command packs are composed of 6 figures for the same price. The main problem is that a few of the ranges you get 8 identical infantry or 3 cavalry figures in a blister for that price (no head or pose variants). The range designed by the Perrys (ACW, FPW, WSS LoA GNW) are nice figurers but due to the above not priced correclty in my opinion . Delivery service is quite good though. |

Well footsore miniatures cost £16.00 GBP for 8 infantry so i guess they are the new kings of over priced. Wargames foundry were terribly over priced many years ago but the rest are catching up on pricing and as stated have even been over taken. On the subject of pricing i really cannot see any excuse for the extortionate pricing of some manufacturers when good old quality firms like Crusader miniatures can charge just £10.00 GBP for 8 metal figures and at Front rank miniatures you can pick 8 metal figures for £11.20 GBPp!!! |

I agree that Footsore seems overpriced but at least in their defense their models are generally recent additions and not 30 year old sculpts. The need to recoup design costs has long be met for Foundry. |

@rustymusket So really, if they were able to pick from stock and post, then the greatest effort was done by the carriers, not WF. Yes I agree on price charged [not cost] escalation, but then moulds also don't last 30 years. Even the 'nice image' packaging has given way to plain plastic zip bags. So I only buy judiciously to complete my forces. Last Christmas 20% off meant a years worth of [planned] models supply… I revise every order to cut to the bare bones… My July11 order from Minifigs just arrived here- so 7 weeks after payment, but at least they arrived. cheers d |

Marcus Brutus@ I agree that Footsore seems overpriced but at least in their defense their models are generally recent additions and not 30 year old sculpts. True but i forgot to also mention Aventine miniatures. Their new Byzantines cost £9.60 GBPp for 8 figures and they are a new range and are top quality as all Aventine miniatures are! Aventine clearly can produce good quality figures at a reasonable price from the get go, no over pricing to recoup their costs!!! |
Marcus Brutus | 19 Aug 2021 11:36 a.m. PST |
I agree totally whiterose. I think Footsore is overpriced as well but it doesn't quite grate with me the way Foundry does. Aventine is a superior line at more reasonable prices. So is Perry. SHat, absolutely molds don't last 30 years but I presume that they are killed at in house mold making which should keep the costs down considerably. |
