When it's time for kids to go back to school, and the stores are flooded with low cost school supplies, do you scope out the shelves for anything you can use for wargaming?

We would be remiss if we did not.

I am currently on the lookout for a clear plastic pencil sharpener of suitable size and shape to be turned into a grav general-purpose vehicle.

I got some rulers to use for measuring and checking line of sight/fire. Usually it is time to stock up on record keeping things like notebooks and colored pens.

Thrift shops, but I do that weekly. Having to pay retail is an admission of failure, so I do that only when I have immediate need. The general rule is thrift shops provide the small plastic two pocked and three hole folders for reports, the three hole zippered pouches and rules. Then the D-ring binders and document protectors have to come from Walmart.

I have, in the past. I am pretty well set with what School Supplies I can use for gaming (including RPG's, not just mini's gaming): clip boards, graph paper pads, mechanical pencils, pencil lead, erasers, rulers, etc. Cheers!

Shop early! Our local rag says that school supplies are now in short supply along with such things as lumber and Splenda Coke.

In my experience, white glue (aka Elmer's Glue-All) is hard to find and expensive outside the 'back to school sales'

I use 'Scotch Removable Poster Tape' (UPC 0 51131 53405 6) to attach figures to cardboard strips (ie, recycled boardgame 'counter trees') for painting. Will be looking for another roll in coming weeks.

Glue/glue sticks, binders (use this for rules and scenarios), rulers, pencils, markers, paint brushes ("art supplies"), containers, scissors, tacks/pins, paper, graph paper, notebooks, notepads, journals…

We just had Tennessee's Sales Tax Free Weekend. I didn't stock up as much this year (I have an ample supply of most things), but I did snag some half-price binders.

Metal maths sets boxes..perfect for storing 1/600 scale magnet based aircraft. The set squares are good for naval games too.
