I finished some Agema Miniatures Republican Romans (and one Iberian Scutati) and have to say, I am fairly pleased about the shield designs. A great improvement over my attempts in 15mm back in the day.

I detailed some of the painting steps on my blog, focusing on painting red, shading TMM and finally, how to go about shield designs. Obviously you also find more pictures of the three legionaries.

I am also experimenting with an new photo setup: infinite background with a scenic arrangement. What do you think?

Fantastic painting !

Dude the experiment is a success. The paint jobs are excellent and the background simply brings the whole thing into a realm of reality otherwise difficult to capture.

Exemplary execution.

Thank you all, much obliged. @Brandock Daha: Yes, I really like the new scenic setup without background. The idea was to capture that theatrical effect, were a warrior steps out of the dark or fog.

Great work!

Thank you! I have a few more in the pipeline. I aim to feature unique shield designs on all of them. Won't be an army in the end, but a skirmish force.

Wonderful! Your shields are very inspiring, and the whole scene is a real eye candy.

So did you hand paint those shields?

Peithetairos22 Dec 2021 2:13 p.m. PST

@pikeman666: Yes, I indeed did. Entirely hand-painted.

I now also have a 360 showcase of these miniatures available on YouTube. Editing was done in Davinci Resolve.
