Hi Everyone, I've been working on making some First Age Silmarillion Edain to add to my homecast figures. This has taken me longer than I thought, but here are some pictures of the greens and the cast figures. They were sculpted in Greenstuff and I made the moulds using RTV silicone. What I wanted to achieve was a set of figures that could stand alongside the Elves during the war with Morgoth. I'm pretty pleased with them and I'm looking forward to how they paint up.

Neat, an effort to be proud of. While not as nicely formed as some modern figures, they are every bit as good as some order ones, and I bet painted up will look great. andy

Wow! I consider them salable, to the public. They have realistic proportions, even! Very nice. Very nice, indeed. Thanks for sharing. I hope you post photo's of them painted, and table-ready! Did you cast them using lead, or something else? If these were gravity cast, they are really quite good quality. Those vent channels really worked well! Cheers! |

I love the look of those figures you made. They remind me of the Heritage figures made for the Bakshi LOTR film back in 79. That was my beginnings in wargaming. Great stuff. I checked out your blog and saw the orcs you made also great figures. |

I think they look great and just ooze charisma – which is really good for fantasy figures. Modern castings look very professional but usually look a little wooden with over-exaggerated details and a stumpy proportions. |

Yeah, I like them too! They do give off that Heritage LOTR feel! That's a GGOD thing. I liked the Orcs too!

Nice. And the weapons are well thought out. Drill out the hand, insert sword it spear. No need to worry about flimsy castings that way. |

Thank you Guys. I'm very pleased with all the nice things you have said. I love old Heritage figures too and am knocked out that you compare my little guys to them. Sgt Slag, I use white metal to cast which is tin lead alloy. They are gravity cast and I use the same kind of design as Prince August moulds. I now use plastic rods to make the vents as I pour the silicone rubber, then I remove when I remove the master green. Cheers Nick |

Wow I have a whole unit of old dnd miniatures that would stand side by side with these with no appreciable difference. Perhaps the very miniatures your basing these on. Most of mine have spears but the same armour and helmets. These are certainly detailed enough to benefit from a carefull paint job, which would payoff with a good looking unit in an older style. Good job. |

Plastic rods for the vents… Brilliant! Thanks for sharing. Cheers! |

These do remind me (in a good way) of the old Hinchcliffe and Heritage sculpts from the late 1970s. Excellent work! |

Just an update. Here are my painted figures. They are from The House of Beor and represent Barahir and his company. Hence they are Aragorn's line. Hope you like them. Comments and crits welcome.

Great work. I see your art is compared to Heritage. I agree, it has always been my favorite for lord of the rings. |
