Wow. They are that big?

Per the company's last financial statement, it posted revenues before tax of £150,900,000.00 GBP

That's bottom line profits (EBT). Not sales.

Sales were over £353,000,000.00 GBP So that should give you a rough idea of the average mark-up of GW products.

That was awfully nice 🙂

Certainly better than my work place all we got was

"Pandemic, blah, blah, probably have to make redundancies, blah, blah, don't expect a pay raise for a long time, blah, blah, no more paid overtime, Pandemic, blah".

Garand27 Jul 2021 9:00 a.m. PST

At my previous job it happened before the pandemic. No quarterly bonuses anymore. No cost-of-living raise anually anymore. No more fun events. Staff cutbacks leading to more work being piled on those that are left…without a corresponding raise in oay.

Then the pandemic hit & lots of people were cut.

Damon.

My wife was laid off. Manged to find another job about 8 months later, less pay. I kept my job, but "paid over time" and "bonuses" are just a bunch of syllables that don't go together. It's a great group of people, though and I enjoy the work.

Brilliant Prince Rupert of the Rhine! Seen everywhere as companies saw an opportunity to cut/reduce pay and staff and reduce services.

Maybe one of them will buy me a resin Land Raider.

I imagine £5,000.00 GBP and GW staff discount could get to a lot of resin Land Raiders.

Back when I was a red shirt (in the mid 90s) the staff discount was the best thing about the job.

Good on them!

A grand gesture to employees, and impressive numbers overall. Spoke to a bloke running a much smaller outfit yesterday, who said 2020 was the best year he had ever experienced for sales. I took this as good news for the hobby!

Good job GW not often we hear something positive about the company. The pandemic has been very good to GW.

I have never received a bonus in my life but I have been a government employee most of the time. The public wants more for less, trim the fat we hear over and over… What that usually means is life gets more difficult for the rank and file. It also encourages employees to do the bare minimum. However I have job security I am considered a core function of government during recessions, furloughs and will be fine when the big depression I sense coming hits..

Little Red27 Jul 2021 12:50 p.m. PST

Nice to support their employees. I don't suppose that they might consider a corresponding price reduction to keep their profit margin below usury?

I've been a customer since 1987…i spend about 5k a year on minis….so if GW gave me BACK $5,000 USD, I promise I'd spend it at Forgeworld anyway.

"Games Workshop gives staff £5,000.00 GBP bonus – which will be divided amongst them."

laugh ;-)

Well, good on them.

Their stock price has more than doubled since I bought a few years ago, so maybe I should just go ahead and take some profit.

Grimmnar27 Jul 2021 10:46 p.m. PST

What was the big bonus GW gave their employees a couple years back?
Anyone, I don't recall correctly.

Good job GW… A lot of companies could learn from this…

My wife has been working for the same company for almost 15 years.
This year she maxed out her pay level, so she cannot get any type of raise anymore with them until they adjust it.
(Which they aren't going to do.)

The pay raise she maxed out at, comes just under what she was making at the medical lab she worked at in Las Vegas when we moved in 2006…

Her company personnel are not getting any raises, but the corporate shills just spent 50K to "decorate the conference room", (the big cost was a new conference table because the new manager didn't like the one that the old manager had put in the last time they redecorated and moved the older conference table that was put there by the previous-previous manager out).

Also having one of the doctors come into the office and brag about how much he spent for Colts VIP Season Box Tickets to an office full of people that are already overworked, understaffed, undertrained, underappreciated, and in a toxic atmosphere with thick skulled managers, low morale, and a high employee turnover rate, is something that you just really shouldn't do.

Yeah – good for GW sharing the profit with the staff.

HMS Exeter28 Jul 2021 4:06 p.m. PST

The altruist in me is pleased.

The realist in me wonders that they made soooo much money they ran out of tax dodges in which to shelter all of it and were left having to distribute it as compensation to get it off the books.

Pontifex30 Jul 2021 4:17 p.m. PST

I have to agree with Exeter – GW's behavior does not entitle them to any kind of benefit of the doubt.
