You were asked – TMP link Do you use Games Workshop's new names for figures, or stick to the generics? Elves/Aelves, Orcs/Orruks, and so on… I mostly only buy their paints and don't use the new names, mostly because I can't pronounce, remember or I feel like a twit saying them. 47% said "the new names are silly" 14% said "I hate Games Workshop" 3% said "I use the new names" |

Worrying about the intellectual property of your Aelves while there a Elves all over the world is like counting pennies in your jar while there are a stack of cheques for payment waiting to be deposited. |

This is the lingering effect of Tom H.F. Kirby's Sovietesque handling of GW's IP for so many years. Everything he did was to tighten control over the IP, regardless of fans' and customers' feelings on the matters. Squats? Gone. Specialist Games? Priced to fail. Black Gobbo? Killed off. And don't get me started on the anticompetitive crap they pulled with all the independent retailers not being able to list GW products on their websites. GW and its fans are so much better off without Tom Kirby, may a thousand dust-mites take up residence in his loins. |
