A platoon I use a lot for SCW Chain if Command is the Carlists (My Carlists are here – link if anyone is interested – scroll down to see the figures).

I really want some armoured support for them – really I want a Ferrol armoured car – does anyone know anyone who makes one in 28mm?

Failing that, any evidence of other Tiznaos in use by the Nationalists at the start of the war? All the Tiznaos I can find on the market are based on well known images of republican machines and will look republican even if I paint nationalist slogans over them.

Any ideas? How do other people support their Carlists?

An easy option might be to buy a toy truck and slap some "sheet metal" about it and accept it as plausible but generic.

Never let history get in the way of a good looking force. How about a captured Hispano Suiza MC-36?

Check Etsy. I just searched for 28mm Spanish civil war armored car, and got a load of results. Maybe reaching out to one of the dealers would get what you are after.

(pdf in spanish) page 29, section 1, The tank models available by the two sides at the beginning of the war are explained, mainly some Ft-17, Scheider CA-1 and Trubia A4:

Apart from captured units, the Nationalists hardly used Tiznaos. At the beginning of the war and until very later, they did not control the few industrial zones where the basic factories capable of manufacturing them were located, at first they have the most of the Spanish Army tanks, and in a short time they did not need Tiznaos, thanks to the help of their German and Italian friends who provided them with authentic tanks.

The Basque campaign featured a lot of Navarrese Requetes and at first, quite a number of Nationalist-made tiznaos in support made in Pamplona, Saragossa and various other places. Panzer Garage make a few in 1/72 scale but I don't know about 28mm.

Another Nationalist tiznao built in Pamplona for support of the Requetes:

These are great models – the ones by Panzer Garage would be exactly what I am looking for if only they were 1:56 instead of 1:72

Look under Jesus M Lopez Bea and you will find the requete Pamplona no.3 in 1/50 scale as a printable card model.

Mike O – That's great thank you – I've downloaded it!

Jesus M Lopez Bea also does the nationalist Ebro tiznaos. I have photo showing an Ebro-1 surrounded by requetes on the Aragon front. Great thing about those card models is you can resize them if 1/72 isn't your thing…
