There seems to be a lot you can read up on how German snipers were trained and how they operated. But does anyone know how they were integrated into the battalion organisation? Was there one per company or platoon? Or a sniper 'section'? If anyone knows this information or of a good source, I would be grateful.

I think there was generally, one per platoon. Same applies up through the modern era too.

Certainly, at least one or more per company.

That makes sense. Thanks.

This article from amazingly common Wikipedia would lead one to believe the Germans departed from sniper units and after 1942 dispersed more sniper trained and equipped personnel in to regular units. At least that's my take. Read for yourself and decide.

Thanks Captain. I did try Google and Wickipedia but my question referred to GERMAN snipers so I received limited and misdirected responses. Rookie error.
