Painting my German DAK armored cars … and the imagination wanders …

What ID did the German armored car have in Pressfield's book "Killing Rommel", which mercilessly stalked the protagonists through the desert?

And do you know what type of armored car the Germans were driving?

Man, I wish I could find my book.
