In January 1795 the French Republic was joined by new allies at sea with the declaration of the Batavian Republic, and by 1797 Britain would face the tripartite coalition and naval threat from France, Spain and Holland.

The Dutch fleet makes an interesting addition to any collection for the French Revolutionary War period and I thought I would start my collection with a Dutch light squadron designed to facilitate several small ship engagements from August 1795 to October 1798 as outlined in my post.

After a long break from wargaming, I came across by accident warlords black seas models, I have just the received frigates and brigs box your inspired photos has prompted me to paint up as Dutch ships,
