Am I the only one who is bothered by an illustration for an ad that comes up on the TMP Homepage of the Bridge at Arnhem whith a Humber AC with German insignia crossing the bridge? |
clibinarium | 12 Jul 2021 8:05 a.m. PST |
What's the issue? Is it the wrong type of Humber? |

If you'd like, von Schwartz 2.0, I can look up the name of the German officer in that Humber. Pretty sure he's named in It Never Snows in September. |

Captured examples were called Panzerspähwagen Humber (e) in German service. |

It is no more offensive than the Fidelis models advertisement showing American armor with its insignia clearly shown. |

Can't say that I've noticed it. Why does it bother you? |
pzivh43 | 12 Jul 2021 3:49 p.m. PST |
My answer is no. I can't even figure out what the problem could be? The German Iron Cross? |

I am generally not bothered by those type of things. It takes a bit to bother me. I do use such things as a (not the) criterion for my purchase evaluations. |

"the Bridge at Arnhem whith a Humber AC with German insignia crossing the bridge" Now that would have been a great infiltration tactic…! ;-) |
Old Contemptible | 12 Jul 2021 9:58 p.m. PST |
I don't much pay much attention to banners or advertising. |

The commander of the german assault on the bridge(Grabner iirc) was in a captured humber armored car.I think some other captured allied vehicles were also used, not sure what types. |
Legion 4 | 13 Jul 2021 6:04 a.m. PST |
Yes it was SS CPT Grabner … much of his SS Recon unit(?) was destroyed and he died on the bridge. |
mjkerner | 13 Jul 2021 9:56 a.m. PST |
So, von Schwartz, what was the problem you were so worked up about, anyway? |
Mollinary | 13 Jul 2021 11:55 a.m. PST |
V Schwartz, did you think this was a blooper by TFL? Given my own ignorance I might have agreed with you, but it seems the forum's experts have spoken! So maybe the answer to your question is TFL? |
von Schwartz ver 2 | 13 Jul 2021 3:45 p.m. PST |
WOW!!!! what a response, did I hit a nerve??!!!! I DID say I was AR didn't I? Didn't know the Germans had or used any early model British Humber ACs, especially an SS unit Also, I was not judging or being at all pejorative in my comment, just curious. Some of you seemed to get a little annoyed. And Yes, Mollinary, I did believe it to be a little blooper. Sorry to any if I offended |

Sorry to any if I offended You are not <grin> Wolfhag |
mjkerner | 14 Jul 2021 8:51 a.m. PST |
Yes, not offended here either, was just curious as to what set you off. Btw, what does AR stand for? |
von Schwartz ver 2 | 14 Jul 2021 12:10 p.m. PST |
AR = anal retentive It just seemed that the massive response was waaaaay outa proportion to my inquiry, which was actually intended to be a little tongue in cheek. My cheek NOT yours!!! |

von Schwartz ver 2, You're a cheeky lad. Wolfhag |
