What is their skin color? Palid white, devilish red, dark Drow? |

Fantasy – Regular Elf Coloyr; (pale) caucasian with blonde hair SciFi – True white skin with metallic blue hair A bad lot, either genre. However, nothing I have can even vaguely compare with the ultimate in creepy evil …

For GW Dark Elves, I paint them Dove grey highlighted by off white. |

Pale just like my other elves. The main difference is in the costumes. |

I always liked the AD&D Drow for me they are the quintessential Dark Elf. So black skin, red eyes and white hair was my go to when I owned some dark elves. |

My Dökkálfar ("Dark Elves") are identical to my Ljósálfar ("Light Elves") in appearance, apart from clothing style. However, my drow are the original D&D bad-arse ones with black skin, white hair and a mean attitude. |

Umm, Dark, as opposed to light elves being lighter. I'm trying for the Liv Tyler look!!! |

Dark elves painted like a punk version of high elves are just confused and misunderstood. So dark, like the night and their corrupted dark souls. |

I am painting my Drow Elves with gray skin, as black is too dark, on the table. I will follow that up with Tudor Minwax, which will make them a fairly dark gray. Black skin washes out 99% of the details in the face and limbs, based on some 25-28mm figures I already have, with black/very dark brown skin. Black is truer to the source material (Gygax's 1e AD&D books). I will try doing a white wash, to bring out the details on a test figure, to see how it looks -- if it works well enough, I'll go that route. Cheers! |

Dark grey with light grey drybrush then black wash usually works for me to get the effect you are describing. I also usually custom mix skin colours. No two people have the same skin solour. No one person has one skin colour. |

I don't know if it would be possible to pull off, but I suspect a cool look would be to give drow black skin that had deep purple/violet highlights— the intent would be that their skin isn't actually black, but rather very, very dark purple. I think the effect would look alien (as in non-human) without appearing unnatural. Maybe deep purple base, medium purple/violet highlights, and a black wash? Never tried anything like that, so I don't know if it would work. |

Bright lemon yellow skin, glossy black pupilless eyes, with pumpkin orange, chartreuse or grape cool-aid colored hair. |

Mine are all a shiny metal color! Haven't painted any of mine yet! Probably go a Dark blue, because that what black is Right? and likely a greyish white hair, if I ever get to painting drow.

One of my tribes is a very dark (almost black) green. I would like to paint more in this colour but make do with not quite so dark green for other tribes as the original is no longer made and I can't seem to match it when mixing. x42 |
