link Good summary of Clara Driscoll's career. Iirc, de Zavala wanted to emphasize the Long Barracks, where some of the heaviest fighting occurred. Driscoll wanted to emphasize the church, with its characteristic and memorable hump, which of course was not there in 1836! Driscoll won thta part of the fight, and led the way (with the De Zavala Chapter of the Daughters) to raise $75 USDk to save the old ruins from destruction. |
