A post on a topic that I probably have already explored but it's that time of year again.

AUDITING YET TO MAKE THE TABLE PAINTED ARMIES.

Off the top of my head :
25mm Rus and Teutonic
Project Z
10mm Samurai and Mongols
15mm Samurai: 2 sides with fort.
15mn Byzantine and Turks
15mm multiple fantasy armies – thanks Ed
25mm Volkssturm
1/ 144 scale WW2 Aerial Eastern front an Pacific
1/300 WW2 Aerial Pacific
1/300 Provo Rosso
Sadly there are more, but I can't recall them at this moment.

Hopefully this list will change next year, some will be crossed off the list and somethings added.

It's interesting to see players searching for solitaire games…painting miniature armies, is the solitaire part of this hobby for me.

Next audit- Rules you have, but not yet played…

Years ago, I started a log of armies I'd like to do. Some of them have been fielded, others haven't. Some only seemed like a great idea for a few days, then I lost interest. Usually this meant I didn't buy or paint anything. After year or so, I did get cunning enough to list what I thought at the time were the top five.

6mm and 10mm ACW. The 10mm games start in October or November.

Funny I've been having recent health problems and avoiding straining my eyesight with detailed painting, so i just sketched out in diagram form my current WIP and projected plans.

On a 40 year timeline I'm refurbing a few units, completing others, creating new others to fill out formations.
Napoleonics is so damn complex…

1984, I think we do it to ourselves. We get lost in troop types and uniforms and wanting to do everything with one set of troops, and never come out the far side.

Trying now to do big battles with really small castings and stand=brigade, and do the small stuff with individually mounted 28mm and less than 1,000 of them. It won't do everything, but it will do a lot without breaking my budget, requiring a separate building, or not getting done in my lifetime.

Armies that still haven't made it to the tabletop are Vikings and, rather bizarrely, Napoleonic French.

The Covenanters need more units before they count as an army.

I have about 100 guys I've painted in the last two months who haven't seen battle yet.

About fifty are extensions of armies that have seen battle.

My excuse is that I am away from home for work.
