Well as many of us know the 4th of July is the USA's Independence Day Holiday. I wish all in the USA a Happy 4th of July !

Don't blow your fingers off with those cheap "Made in China" fireworks ! Actually they ain't cheap at all … 😮

And to our former Red Coat "rulers" … We now have the [former?] Duke & Duchess of Suffix living in the US. So I think that is part of your cunning plan all along. To worm your way back in to the US !

I'd think from a historical standpoint. The US & UK are one of the most successful friendships and Allies of former "Colonists and Colonizers".

And we have to thank the French for their assistance as well. Viva' le' France' !

Of course none of us were there old fart … but we do have a good time celebrating and remembering the past. At least most of us do. Albeit it it was "a bloody affair". As most Revolutions tend to be …

But I'm sure this long holiday weekend will see a high body count in many bigger US cities. 🤔

Hopefully next year the things that are going on in the USA today. Will be just a bad memory.

Happy 4th of July USA !

The Forefathers who wrote our Constitution were certainly brilliant and courageous men. Their system of government has lasted and now makes the US the oldest constitutional democratic republic in the world. Yet as most veterans know, freedom isn't free. While many seem ignorant and entitled, or just plain lazy; there are many others who will still stand up for America. In some ways it has always been that way. Happy 4th of July.

The duke and duchess of Sussex are no longer really part of the British establishment, but thanks for taking them in.

As a Brit, I look on the revolution/war as another one of our periodic civil wars. It's a shame that the French were brought in, but they ended up paying the cost. Bad call, but ‘Vive la France!'

Happy Independence Day for tomorrow, cousins. Don't mess it up.

I could sure get sent to the dawghouse if I said what I think. Y'all will have to use your imagination.

Happy holidays to all my traitorous colonial friends :)

We celebrate the creation of probably the only country ever founded on mutually agreed ideas and values, rather than on ancient connections to the land.

All of our ancestors came here from somewhere else, whether by ship across the Atlantic, on foot over the Bering Land Bridge or across the Rio Grande or across the world's longest unpatrolled border, or, more recently, by airplane.

Most of our ancestors chose* to come here, so that they could have what they could not in the old country: freedom to choose their government and leaders; freedom from arbitrary confiscation and imprisonment; freedom to own land and other property; freedom to study, think, read, write, speak, gather, and organize; freedom to worship as they believe, without fear of pogrom, starvation, dispossession, banishment, or the other tools of genocide used by old world rulers and their henchmen and accomplices against the Pilgrims, Puritans, Jews, Irish, Catholics, Baptists, Mennonites, atheists, and far too many others striving to breathe free; and freedom to put ketchup on your hot dog at a baseball game, which although I personally find it disgusting, I will absolutely defend your right to do.

So best wishes for Independence Day!

Enjoy your barbecues or barbeques, and remember the French pirates who invented them and later helped us win our independence and then sold us what became the middle third of our country for really cheap.

*About 388,000 slaves were delivered directly to North America between 1525 and 1866. See:

Here's Henry Louis Gates exact quote:

And how many of these 10.7 million Africans were shipped directly to North America? Only about 388,000. That's right: a tiny percentage.

The French, even their Pirates/Buccaneers[Go Tampa Bay!], had a flair with cuisine … 🍗🍖🥩

Yes, History can't be rewritten no how much some want to do it. Slavery is part of US history … A very bad part of our history but it isn't the only thing …

Since 1865 many in the US have been trying to right that wrong. As we see more work needs to be done. And IMO sadly with recent events some of that work has been set back.

And how many of these 10.7 million Africans were shipped directly to North America? Only about 388,000. That's right: a tiny percentage.
Don't confuse some narratives/agendas with facts … that seems in the standard today.

Regardless most of civil society knows slavery is bad, wrong, etc. Yet it still goes on today in many places in the Mid East, Africa, etc., … And yes, it still is Wrong !

Understand completely cousin ! When I hear about them on the news … I switch channels !

I'm not sure what the discussion point is with pointing out that most American slaves were born in this country rather than being imported from Africa. What point am I missing?

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian03 Jul 2021 8:01 p.m. PST

All of our ancestors came here from somewhere else…

Yeah, but some of us were firster! grin

And by the way, it's also Editor Julia's birthday! I think anyone born on July 4th should get automatic citizenship, whaddya say?

The USA – "it's a good idea that's got out of hand…"!

Very true … another case of "don't let the facts get into the way of some agendas/narratives, etc. As mentioned before. Not talking about anyone's post here … but much of the media, certain groups, movements, dogmas/theories[CRT, 1619, etc.], etc.

And slavery was here before the Europeans arrived[1619 !] among the Native Americans[what we used to call American Indians ?!].

Also IIRC both African Americans and Native Americans served on all sides during the AWI thru ACW in America … That is all part of our history …

The USA – "it's a good idea that's got out of hand…"!
Sadly IMO that has never been more apparent than in the passed couple of years. Hopefully common sense and logical, etc. will come about sooner that later. But I don't see that happening within the next couple of years.

All of our ancestors came here from somewhere else…
I have heard Bigfoot was here before humans !?!? 🙈🙉🙊🐵🦍
