For me, it's armored cars. So cool, yet so vulnerable…

Knights.
Their charge seems to be resolutive and unstoppable but very often they turn up to be very fragile:-(

So Prussian Landwehr Cavalry then.

Well sculpted artillery with crew. The more animated the gun crew are, the better. I have way to many French artillery, I have way to many ACW artillery and the list goes on.

I'm rather fond of my Arab army for 19th century Africa. They are very pretty looking and have a funky little cannon. There is this nagging doubt at the back of my mind though that the real life Arabs in Africa where, generally speaking, a big bunch of A holes that did a lot of very nasty stuff to people who couldn't really fight back.

GW Beckie Marines – lots of other choices, but I keep going the extra mile to get beckie helmets for conversions

Pirates, and Cowboys…

And pretty much anything that comes out from Pulp Figures…

I have a bunch of S range Minifigs Napoleonic cavalry that I have no use for, nor do I have any plans for them but I think they are the coolest thing since cinnamon toast!

Bashytubits02 Jul 2021 9:02 a.m. PST

Scruby miniatures, butt ugly but they look much better painted. (not really)evil grin

Mac's Models--the Hogarth prints of the miniature world, but impossible to build or flesh out units. Ral Partha Dwarves in second place, and Grenadier Dwarves in third.

Oh. You meant troop types? Peninsular Spanish and 1813-1815 Hanoverians. You can get good mileage out of either, but it's always trickier than just throwing British at the problem.

Even though they have unusual proportions, I LOVE Dixon samurai. I am also a huge fan of Flintloque with their strange proportions and comical style.

The Foundry Darkest Africa 28mm range Askari figure wearing sandals, kilt, vest, and fez – - – and carrying a lever-action Winchester.

All of them.

I even found some love for Admins Fantasy Victorians.

"No, no – they're quirky", I'd tell people who told me "those are really terrible sculpts"

20thmaine --I like your Adams family people. They look like claymation figures and have a charm all their own.

Full disclosure – those aren't my figures they were the only examples I could find on the 'net.

Mine are VERY similar looking though!

The old Ral Partha LotR line from the 70's. I've had these 45 years now.

Medieval Scots and Scottish Covenanters. Nary a win between the both of them but I enjoy painting them.

Grelber06 Jul 2021 9:31 a.m. PST

Largely because Foundry chose to make them, I have way more berserks for my Vikings than are remotely hinted at in historical sources or allowed in anybody's army lists. I have a few favorites who re often used, but suspect some amongst the berserks have never been used.

Of course, I noticed that the day I arrived late to set up the game and asked everybody to pick a dozen or so unarmored Vikings to command while I set up the terrain, everybody chose berserks to lead their band.
