A friend of mine is slowly getting into mini gaming, and is collection mostly 1/72nd plastic. He is interested in Vietnam, and asked me about the availability of Australian troops. Plastic Soldier Review shows nothing. Is there anything out there? Even 1/72nd metal would do. |

Check out Britannia and Eureka for 20mm metal. |

Airfix WWII Australian or Gurkha infantry would work. |

I've always felt airfix 1/72 ww2 8th Army are good stand ins for Falklands era British. |

The Aussies are a charismatic unit for this era. It's a shame there are so few options, but rhmodels have a decent range and seem to be good quality – pictures are a little scarce and low quality though. Platoon 20 had some nice sculpts, and they were I think 20mm scale. Following the film Danger Close there could be a spike of interest if a company wanted to take a chance. But not in plastic I fear. ORION might do some but their recent efforts are somewhat mixed in quality. |

Airfix WWII Australian or Gurkha infantry would work. Not even in '65 or '66, DF. Wrong headgear, boots (after 66), weapons, webbing and packs. The hairdos may be OK, though. Go with Eureka, Nick. Eureka's sculptor had access to lots of photo's and has captured the "look" pretty well. Or if he wants to try 15mm, Two Dragons had a good range and were supplied with plenty of photo's by the son of a VN Vet. Cheers. |

I didn't know Eueka did 20mm Vietnam Aussies. I know they have 25mm. |

You're right, Matt. I was equating 1/72 with 25mm for some reason. Hadn't had me first cuppa- that's what I'll blame it on. Cheers. |

Eureka only seems to do WWII Australians in 20mm. |

Yes, Nick. Got 25mm and 20mm mixed up. Sorry. |
