With several books covering Napoleon and the French's Egyptian Campaign and recent and forthcoming titles covering the British in Egypt, I wondered if there would be any interest in 6mm Egyptian Campaign miniatures and wargaming? I noticed most scales have offered Egyptian campaign miniatures but not the 6mm manufacturers. It would be costly to make them and they would need to be reassured that there is enough genuine interest (and possibly advance orders etc) out there to go ahead. Would there be enough interest to persuade a 6mm manufacturer to produce them? What do you think? |

A great period to game with lots of exotic troop types. And yes no 6mm and not even 10mm figs made for this. |

If there was enough interest and paid for advance orders, you never know, one of the 6mm manufacturers might consider it. Well, one can hope anyway. |

At that scale and at wargaming distances you can use just about any French or British Napoleonics and any Turks and Arabs would do. Use desert terrain for the stands. |

You could probably fudge it with Baccus various ranges. They have a small Ottoman range and French in bicorne. Not sure what is available as far as infantry in tarleton however… |

Prince Alberts Revenge I'm probably being too fussy but I wouldn't want to 'fudge it' as you put it, well, not too much anyway. And I'm not a great fan of Baccus mins because I feel they look very dwarfish and not very detailed. Just my opinion, of course. But good to see they have an Ottoman range available. And I've never been a fan of Irregular mins either, so perhaps I am too fussy, considering the size of the miniatures. I think I was hoping for more detailed 6mm figures, as much as they can be. Adler are very detailed for the size but, although they have a French revolutionary range and European opponents, they don't have anything covering their opponents in Egypt. They do have Mamelukes in the French Imperial Guard range. But perhaps, with the forthcoming titles on the Egyptian campaign, we will see more interest and who knows, more miniatures becoming available. Either that or I will have to go up a scale. I keep thinking about selling them and going o to 15mm but when I look at them lined up for a game I keep changing my mind. Perhaps I'm just going through a phase, possibly an Egyptian one at the moment. LOL. |

Check out Turner Miniatures, who makes files for printing beautifull 6mm. He hinted at a possible future Egypt range |

Thanks for heads up Sparta. They look okay and certainly full of detail. However, I prefer metal miniatures. I guess that proves I am being too fussy! LOL |

I prefer metal miniatures Metal bases for magnetic mounting? Tarleton helmets: Use Bavarian/Austrians – cut off the existing raupe/caterpillar/crest, replace with new one made out of something (green stuff/blue tac/uhu) If desperate use the heads off Royal Horse Artillery gunners. |

To be honest I prefer metal miniatures too – Easy to position accurately with nice heft and tend to stay in place if the table is jostled. However, the possibility of having miniatures in any desired costume – even if in resin/plastic – hmmm. |

Stoppage Yes, tempting. But I think I'll keep dreaming of Adler bringing out a range or a limited range. I'd love to see and paint up troops riding camels. But good to see I was wrong, in terms of thinking there were no 6mm manufacturers offering an Egyptian range. But to be fair, I had never heard of Turner miniatures before. I think the heads up on them will certainly please the less 'fussy' 6mm wargamers. LOL |
