Guys,

Here's some shots from a scenario I put on at our local DieCon event a few weeks back (thanks to Les H. for these, who played and snapped these during the game).

A sleepy stream valley stretches out before the Soviet players, populated by a few peasant villages -

Part of their advance guard, here a platoon of T-70s from the 148th Tank Brigade, probes toward one of the two ford crossings in the area – testing the Fascist defences -

Choosing to press up to the eastern crossing point, the first encounter develops as dug-in infantry and AT Guns of the German 340th Infantry Division open up -

The Soviet advance body now heavily engaged at the ford, are threatened with envelopment from a German tank attack coming from the west (lead elements of 9th Panzer) -

Comrades, Fear Not! – the main tank battalion body is coming and enters the fray – part of this a KV-1 company now tasked with eliminating the enemy mediums -

The last [game] throes, with the hard-fighting Soviet attack now beginning to break through at the eastern ford, Sturmgeschutzen of the 201st Bn. that were held in local reserve decide NOW is the time….Vorwarts! –

And yes, just as the game action was reaching its height on the tabletop – you know the drill…..stop the action, time to cleanup for the next game scheduled. :)))

(custom commissioned game mat by War Sigil, miniatures are various manufacturers in 1/144th scale)

Best game player (there were a few!) – goes to Les, who now proudly displays his AP shell game booty, as reward of a hard-fought afternoon somewhere on the Russian steppes, back in 1942 -
