I was wondering for 6mm ghq airborne if as a basecoat, I can use olive drab spray can?

Of course! Spray painting a basic color is one of the best tricks of the trade. I do it on my 15mm figures. It works great.

Yes you can use a spray can, just watch your coverage so it doesn't get flooded.
