My first mounted figures for the AWI. Lovely sculpts as you'd expect from the Perrys.
They saw action for the first time in a game last week where we tried out the Muskets & Tomahawks 2 rules. Here they ride down a hapless officer from a group of Continentals who has just slain a Rangers officer in hand-to-hand fighting. The Dragoons extracted a violent and bloody revenge.
As you might expect with rules from Studio Tomahawk the rules give a very playable game. Is it a great game that reflects the period? I'm afraid that is much less obvious. There are some strange unit ratings, for example British Light Infantry have an Aggression rating (close combat rating) of 7+, the same as American Militia. That just seems totally at odds with my understanding. |

Beautifully done. Too bad it takes 9 of them to kill 1 guy! 😁 |

Nice. That was one of my very first AWI units. Perry, and you of course, have done an excellent job. |

Beautifully done. Too bad it takes 9 of them to kill 1 guy! 😁 The cavalry performed one of their key roles, which is rolling up and chasing off a beaten enemy. My Rangers had dealt with the Continental unit despite their officer killing the Rangers officer in the fight. That left the Continental officer alone in the road feeling self satisfied with his prowess with the sabre, that was until the cavalry came charging onto the table. Having dealt with the offending officer the cavalry then galloped down the road to chase off a group of nervous armed civilians. A job well done I'd say :-)
