This is mission 1 in a campaign following a British company through 1944 France. I am using 6mm forces and playing on a 3x4 grid on a A4 page. Yes , 12 squares on an page. I did this before in 2017. It was fun and I have since revised the rules to be smoother to run and a lot clearer. I played this in March and I have already played four games of the campaign so there will be more to come when I can find the time to write them up. The British company has to attempt to destroy a German listening post. A full battle report is on the blog here: link A link to the rules I used and also the 2017 campaign is in the blog report. Great setup and game, Shaun, thanks for sharing with us. I still don't get how the Brits got to the objective with half their company, then lost everyone and the objective, pretty sure your rules are broke ;) In all seriousness, very tense, and very thought provoking. It keeps reminding me of Peter Pig's "PBI," and I really want to give it (or something similar) a go. Great fight buddy, keep'em coming! V/R, Jack |

Interesting. This is the smallest table WW2 miniatures game I've ever seen. |

Hello Jack – thanks for that. I finally got to finishing the writeup of the first mission and post it. a company of green Brits against a stone building with a platoon of veteran Germans possibly could not end well for the Brits. And it didn't end well for them. I was surprised how tense it is. Every single move has me thinking for ages and second guessing what could and could not happen and ramifications. I think the few squares and forces made it possible to do the forward thinking. @Durban Gamer – lucky I have no 3mm forces, I may have been tempted to do it on half a page! |

Shaun, Yes, certainly a tough nut to crack, with the 25-pdr stonk really not accomplishing anything as the rifle platoons were too slow to get in there before the Germans rallied. I think I need to get in and take a look at your rules; clearly there was a lot of tension and the fight was a close run thing, with both being cranked up by the constricted table space, but I want a better understanding of the tactical decision making. Great stuff man, looking forward to more. V/R, Jack |
