…2022

"Break out the phasers and Vulcan ears. Star Trek is coming to Chicago and this time, it's a whole new "Khaaaaaaannnn!"

ReedPop, the company behind New York Comic-Con, C2E2, PAX, Emerald City, Star Wars Celebration, and ComplexCon, just announced a new partnership with the franchise which will begin at Star Trek: Mission Chicago, taking place from April 8-10, 2022 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, IL.

"As the Star Trek franchise continues to grow and evolve, so too is our convention business evolving," Veronica Hart, executive vice president, global franchise management, ViacomCBS Consumer Products said in a press release. "We are excited to partner with ReedPop as our official Star Trek convention partner to take this next step in creating an event that will introduce the Trek experience to loyal and new fans alike each year."…"

Nice.

However, other than for deep-dish pizza, I have no desire to go to Chicago.

If you have any interest in architecture, there are several Frank Lloyd Wright buildings in Oak Park. Also various facilities on the IIT campus by Mies van der Rohe.

But Chicago is where they filmed "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"

That city is far too violent, far too dangerous, for me to desire to visit it any time soon. Pass. Cheers!

Having driven in Chicago traffic, and seeing how they tax everything, and seeing the amount of danger and violence there…No thank you.

My wife and her friends were in Chicago last month. They didn't see any crime. Stay out of the hood and it's not so scary.

That's just your typical weekend in Chicago. Nothing to laugh about.

I haven't been to Chicago in a long time, but I have a hard time believing that the Magnificent Mile and the Wright and van der Rohe sites are going to present any real problems.

Plus, deep-dish pizza.

I don't care for Chicago, can't stand Chicago traffic and, most importantly, new Trek sucks!
