After trying them out with a couple of 2 turn run throughs we played our first full game using Great Escape Games 1914 Rules last week, our game based on the 1916 Battle of Geisterwald was located on the eastern front with Russians fighting against Germans & Bulgarians. The Central Powers prevailed at the end of the day after some fierce fighting. The rules reflected the period well and a good time was had by all, the AAR is on our blog.

Here's a couple of pictures from the night…

Russian Guns defending the heights as German infantry enter the play area in the distance…

The same hilltop occupied by Germans later in the game!

Very cool, looks like it was a great game. It's a great looking table, and well done on the AAR.

Thanks for the comments Guys.

Drummer, yes we like these rules and the WW Ii version Iron Cross, the Command System is challenging (the rest is pretty standard if a bit underdeveloped in the case of IC) but the important thing is both give our group a game we can play and complete during our Monday night sessions. FYI some of the rules we select may not be the best simulations our criteria for Monday evening games is sets of rules with the right flavour, lower complexity, that can be played in a reasonable time and most importantly give a good experience 😃…
