She is on her way back home after a long day in the family rice paddys. Or is she on her way to join the other VC of the village tonight?

Well, to judge by her facial expression, I will go with Legion 4 on this one. The gun is a bit of a giveaway too.

I'm sure she only has the gun for protection from tigers. And seeing a tiger will certainly put anyone in a bad mood.

Legion 4 has this non woke, totally discriminatory prejudice, which is so politically incorrect, that assumes every VN civilian is VC.

OK, that attitude did maybe increase your chance of getting home and living to be a grandparent in 2021. It was not their fault, but out there in the country, like it or not, they probably were….the alternative did not bear thinking about. I think he is only 75% right. The rest were reluctant VC.

I think Skarper's contributions about modern day VN are just brilliant. He is allowed to be critical of the past. and I am sure he must be careful, but he seems to have a freedom of expression no Chinese could even dream of.

It's OK to think what you like, and you can say what you want – privately.

Write a blog about it, or make any kind of public statement and you will get a visit. If you persist you can end up in jail for a lengthy sentence.

Foreigners would just get deported.

It's not as bad as China by a long chalk. But we do have some way to go. I'm not sure if I can see any progress.

Meanwhile the US and UK are going BACKWARDS.

Legion's sense of humour is an acquired taste. He's [mostly] joking.

+1 deadhead …

+1 [mostly] Skarper … wink

I learned about soldiering, patrolling, Inf Ops, etc., by some of the best who served and came back for the war in SE Asia. They helped "develop" my attitude, POV, dark sense of humor, etc., etc. I don't blame them … I thank them …

Dumb question. In this new range of civilians with identical figure armed, none of them carry any kit or even spare ammo. For local VC would that be the case?

I can see the argument, in an emergency, chuck away that weapon quick. "Who me? Naw, just a poor farmer guv'nor! Bloke who dropped that just ran into those trees". Slightly limits one's effectiveness though?

I do value Skarper's insight into current thinking in VN. A rarity, but do be careful….

The VC not only had weapons but ammo cached, etc., with in reach if need be. I'd think these models would reflect that sort of paradigm. But a sack [full of ammo, grenades, etc.]of some sort slung over the shoulder, etc., would probably be appropriate in some cases. When the VC were packing weapons, etc. As again ammo, etc., would be cached along with weapons.

Now in a deliberate planned attack, ambush, etc., usually during darkness, the VC would generally be well armed and supplied.
