Although these rules have been around a while, i just stumbled across them.

There aren't too many YouTube videos of games but from what I saw it looked fun.

I also noticed that there is an awesome looking box of multi part plastic Gunfighters available.

The only thing that could put me off is the start up $ for terrain looks like it could run pretty high.

That said, if you're a fan of the game let me know what you like about it.

Cheers.

I don't know anything about the rules, but you can make buildings out of cardboard or foam board, or print paper buildings. We used to play gunfights and the buildings were simply paper outlines with doors and windows noted on them. Don't let the cost of commercial real estate slow you down.

Buildings seem to be the big hit for western games as you'll want a bunch at some point.

Agree with Joe (79thPA). There are many print and build paper buildings available, primarily on Wargame Vault. wargamevault.com

Plus frontier buildings are easy to make from scratch using the material that Joe recommended. There are a number of various web sites and blogs that describe how to do this. One is the old "Major General Tremorden Rederrings's Colonial-era Wargames Page."

Although his "Structures" are aimed at African and Middle Eastern architecture, the basic concepts are the same when building American Western buildings.

Have fun!!

What a great site that was!

The rules are great, they are fast play and easy to learn yet give a good ‘western' feel Game, the cards and different ‘gangs' mean each game is unique.

Re buildings set your games at ranches etc you don't need to have your games in a town, if it works then look at getting buildings….

…or build your own…

Here's a compilation of some of the western rule sets out there. It does not cover every set out there but Dead Man's Hand is included.

Beautiful and inspirational website Heisler! I've already spent way too much time already, lost in Calamity and hope to spend a lot more.

Only set of rules I have ever learnt at one sitting. Great fun game.

Even got me to buy my own gang of miniatures after two games and I need more lead like Custer needed more Sioux!

Have to confess that I use someone else's Town but hey! There are limits!

You can go whole hog into western gaming in 15 mm – lots of building options and a plethora of miniatures options: Bluemoon Manufacturing via Old Glory 25s gives the greatest number of poses. Peter Pig also has a lot of choices in their Western Range (and I will be cheating in some of their Mexican Revolution range). And that dramatically reduces the cost.

If it is the game you want, it works.

The plastic gunfighters are excellent. I'm planning to use spare heads and arms on leftover Perry ACW bodies to extend their ranks.

Wild West buildings are some of the simplest scratch build projects out there anyway – they're literally wooden boxes. Card, foam core or good old balsa wood all work just fine.
