That would explain why the Scots never conquered China. |

Sounds like a pretty tedious affair, especially for the Scots. |

I often find MeG game accounts hard to follow. What I know about it (correct me if I'm wrong anyone) is that basing is more or less DBx element derived but units are groups of bases, movement is card driven and combat is "buckets of dice". Beyond that I don't know much but I enjoy reading accounts from people playing games different from the ones I play. I suggest trying to write in a way that avoids game specific jargon. I don't know what "(S=W for the crossbowmen)" or "(green vs green)" mean. I thought combat had involved a bunch of white dice. I don't know what a tug or a sug are (some kind of units) so the references are meaningless to me. Words like cohort or taxis are great of we're talking about Romans or Macedonians but we don't know all the terminology for every army. But even generic words like unit, detachment etc will make more sense to an outsider. If a player said he had a tug in the forest, I'd start thinking, "OK, whatever you do in your private life's your affair but let's get back to the wargame." I could go and do the work of reading up on MeG, just so I could understand a game report but that's not likely to happen. "35 dice, 6 hits, x bases removed" I can understand. There's enough common gamer understanding. "His sug got S=W on my tug" might as well be written in Aramaic. Cheers, John |

Hi John I can understand what you are saying and I will try to be more Descriptive of the terms I use. Tug = Tactical Unit Group: A group of individual units of main battle troops bundled together in a single mass under a junior general for the purposes of a battle. Expected to carry the main fight to the enemy, carry out the main tactical moves and make the decisive blows. Sug = Skirmish Unit Group: A group of individual units of skirmishers bundled together into a single mass under a junior general for the purposes of a battle. Used to harass and slow the enemy and to protect your own troops for similar effects. thanks for the imput. John |

Thanks for the clarification. The less jargon the better in my opinion :-) Cheers, John |
