Lost all my modern Ospreys to a basement flood a few years back and need some help in painting up some Soviets. One rifle company is in 28mm by Mongrel summer dress with AK47/AKM rifles. I am just wonderring what colours and shades to go for? WWW2 style is that mustardy-khaki. I think that went out of style ny the mid to early fifties. What about the 1960s to mid 1980s colour of uniforms? Was it green or brown and what shades? I have an even more modern platoon of Eureka Soviets for Afghaniland. That is easy since they are wearing the two piece cam coveralls. Camopedia is my friend. I also have a few RAFM Soviet with AK74. Should those guys be in a brownish grey? All help most appreciated. |

I use the same colors as with my WW2 but I game in 15 and 6mm. Here is a link to an Osprey plate from Pinterest that shows 1980s infantry: link |

We were changing the uniform each 6 months and the colours were never exactly the same – except greatcoats. Made a search for you: link |

Thanks everyone. I never thought that the khaki yellow stayed in service so long. The M69 pattern seemed to last though the eighties and was changed to the M88 pattern. Seems the changes in coour can be to either a light brown to a faded dust on the M88 unforms. |
