Hey any really good books on the WSS that have a history of the period and some uniform sources? Just looking for something visually appealing and inspiring. If it happens to be a rulebook even better. |

There is a two volume set on Marlburian uniforms sold by Caliver books. There is also a website called Project WSS |

I have heard that "The Armies and Uniforms of Marlborough's Wars: v. 2" is supposed to be good. I can't seem to locate any source for volume 1. The price for this book (on Amazon) is too steep for me, especially for a paperback. Can anyone verify that it is worth it? Cheers! Gallo |

I like the Baccus 6mm site guides, which are free! link |

Helion's 'Century of the Soldier' series has some good titles on the WSS. Paoletti's book on Italy and Piedmont is really good stuff (in my opinion, anyway). Armies and Uniforms of Marlborough's Wars (C S Grant) was (still is?) published by Partizan. Vol 1 covers Flanders/Germany and the major armies; Vol 2 adds in Italy and the Peninsula. The books have a potted summary of campaign/battles, then a section for each army covering organisation, uniforms etc. There's a decent number of colour plates for the size of the book. Edit: Caliver's website still lists both volumes for sale. |

There is a second edition of Armies and Uniforms of Marlborough's Wars by CS Grant. It apparently combines both volumes of the first edition in a single volume. It is available in the US from On Military Matters (and, presumably, from Caliver in the UK). For the OP, if you have the budget, look at the Pike and Shot Society publications. |

The best sources for WSS uniform and flag info are the Robert Hall CDs available from On Military Matters in the U.S. and Baccus6 in the U.K. If you are serious about the period, they are the way to go. |

The CDs are, as I understand it, pretty much the same as PSS books. |

The CDs are indeed the same as the PSS books, but considerably cheaper, if your budget is a concern. |

Thanks AussieAndy, I will look into it. I would like the Grant book, especially if it combines both volumes. Cheers!
