And within a few days more, there will be yet another 80th anniversary of a sinking of a large ship in the same area. And that would be today, actually. Auf wiedersehen, Bismarck! It took years of labour and tens of thousands of tons of steel to build, and over 2 000 men to crew her. And for all that effort, she fought just a single brief campaign on the Atlantic, sinking HMS Hood, before her time was done.
