Looking at getting into the jet age with Vietnam. I think I want to use 1/300 scale for the planes. I have seen many old threads on models available but it looks like the only manufacturer left is GHQ for this period. Are there any other manufacturers? I am planing for 6 planes max on a 6 x 4 table. Will 1/300 work ok for that? 1/600 I this is just so small. Thanks in advance. |

You can add MSD Games (http://msdgames.com/) to John's list. I generally prefer to use Raiden and Scotia planes and the fill out any others with MSD and Heroics and Ros. Raiden has all the MiGs, along with American F-4Bs and F-4Es, A-4s (with and without the electronics hump), F-8s F-100s, a B-66, and even Skyraiders. Scotia has all the MiGs, F-105s, F-4Es, A-4s with humps, F-101, and Skyraiders. |

Legions 4 hire has the CinC line of minis. Very comparable to GHQ. More scale, as in thinner wings and weapons. I did a lot of "modern", including Vietnam, air gaming using Air Superiority and micro armour size planes back in the day. Also Skytex, although I do not know if they are still made, they may be available on eBay or other sites. |

Talk to Dave from I-94, since he can provide and recommend a lot of suitable aircraft. CinC and GHQ are very nice minis, though generally I consider them to be too fragile for the rigors of air combat on the tabletop, especially if they are multipart aircraft with separate wings, tails, and fuselage that need to be glued together. Scotia and Raiden would be my "go-to" minis, with perhaps a smattering of H&R (Heroics and Ros/Navwar) minis. The Scotia F-4 Phantoms have slightly, overly long, rear fuselages which make them look a bit odd. |

I used 1/1200th A/C. I could get Phantoms and a few other types but scratch built the Mig 21s and some other modern types. 1/1200th is better for overall look on the table, BUT – very small to paint and it's all lost at 5-6 feet. I liked them but do not really recommend. 1/600th would be the sweet spot IMO. Are there 3D printed options now? |

I like MSD miniatures msdgames.com/LUFTWAFFE-1946 Not only do you have the modern but you also have the "never builds" in modern and WW2. The B-46 (modern) and B-35 (WW2) flying wing. |

Oddzial Ozmy do a great range of 1/600 modern planes, with Tumbling Dice also adding to the mix. I find they're better for modern gaming than 1/300 as 1/300 are just a bit too big and heavy for mounting, even with good stands and strong magnets. |

+1 BattlerBritain I've done a lot of a/c for "Thud Ridge" using 1/600 aircraft from Tumbling Dice and Oddzial Ozmy. |

Highly recommend Raiden miniatures. Just had a bunch of Vietnam jets done (US Navy and VPAF), a mix of manufacturers. Raiden just looked the best, good clean castings. I-94 Enterprises has a great line of jets (Raiden and others). link Also full line of decals. Above listed MSD also makes good line of castings for all periods. Both are great guys and great companies to purchase from. |

Another vote for 1/300. Strongly recommend Raiden and Scotia. They are sturdy enough for game use and less costly than GHQ. MSD makes a F-105G which is also quite handy. The Raiden B-66 is a recent add and a nice model to have. Heroics and ROS also has a 1/300 range though I find their quality to be a little less consistent. |
