All,
I caved in and placed an order for a bunch of Richard Lloyd's new Bloody Miniature ECW figures. Order was placed last Thursday. Richard warned me of erratic mail service, and said to figure on at least ten days. Well I went out to get the mail yesterday, and low and behold, a nice, heavy packet from Bloody Miniatures. Seven days from order to receipt here in the US. The figures are stunning, big, meaty and full of detail. I've already gotten them based, primed and started.

Too bad you (not you OP) hate Facebook – this is marvelous stuff:

You have this I guess: bloodyminiatures.co.uk

This is why I'm in the hobby.

Yep, I'm on the Facebook page.

They are nice. If only someone could replicate this, and fill the holes in 15mm ranges.

Doubt anyone ever will, as 15mm is a moveable feast that sometimes goes well past 20mm. With 28mm it would appear that sculptors at least tried to use the same units of measurement.

Re 15mm ECW; have you seen the new Steel Fist ECW range? Already lots of variation and more promised. Beautifully sculpted figures. I would say they are " true" 15mm and have good anatomical proportions.

@steamingdave thanks, yes I have. Some beautiful sculpts there. I'm after the gaps in ranges which nobody makes in true 15mm. As beautiful as the Steel Fist range is, they are only just starting out. Some very big gaps in their range. Plus I am a bit put off by their pack sizes, if I only want a few figures from a pack it becomes rather expensive. Matchlock have some nice oddities, true 15mm height wise, but very 'big boned' so to speak. Typically, the figures from their range that I'd really like are unavailable.

Considering that sieges were probably more numerous than big battles: nobody makes harquebusiers on foot, nobody makes accurate siege engineers (even in 28mm every one and their dog replicates the inaccurate imagery from Haythornthwaite), no shirt sleeved labourers (the Magister Militum pack are noticeably late C17th, so aren't suitable). Not to mention an absence of a commercially available sconce.

I've converted a few figures to try and fill the gaps but they are just okay. The Magister Militum starfort is more Vaubanesque than ECW earthwork.

Then we get on to skirmishes, equally populous in history. Lots of skirmish rules around, 15mm would be ideal. Some nicely animated dragoons wouldn't go amiss. Peter Pig have some nice ones, but a little uniqueness would be brilliant. Again, dismounted harquebusiers are much needed here too.

Then of course there is a dearth of true 15mm generals and personalities.

There's only so far you can go with headswaps, gentle bending of arms, and a little greenstuff addition. I possess neither the skills, or technical knowledge to make my own figures sadly.

Richard has commissioned some beautiful figures. When I heard about them I went to the Bloody Miniatures site, and after looking at the eye candy promptly purchased A Company of Wolves.

The 16 minis arrived in California a few weeks later in a sturdy box with red tissue and an information card, which was a nice touch.

The goal is to combine them with other Bicornes and Warlords to have a fun game of Pikeman's Lament… like what you see here:

I saw a post from Bloody Miniatures that another group of 16 are close to production ready… and he also teased some fun concept sketches for potential future miniatures. I love the grenadoes and the looter stuffing a chicken into a bag!
