I'm torn when I see these old birds in the air. I love to see them flying, but if something goes wrong they're usually a total loss.

I know what you mean. My son got a ride on the Collings B-17 two years before it crashed. I've ridden on their B-24 three times but won't ride again. Warbirds are like thoroughbred horses. High performance and live in the fast lane and then put out to pasture.
