FYI 10 years ago today, USN SEALs inserted[and extracted] by US ARMY Spec Ops Helicopters into UBL's compound in Pakistan. And "terminated with extreme prejudice" UBL, one of his sons and a few of his bodyguards. The US suffered only the crash landing of one of the Army's MH-60 Stealth Helicopters. In the history of Commando/Spec Ops missions this rated as one at the top of the list. Along with the IDF's Entebbe.

Since then the US and it's allies have continues to conduct similar missions to remove terrorists/jihadi targets.

Added to UBL's extermination, his son that was his replacement as AQ leader was also killed by US assets.

AQ's 2IC al-Masri was eliminated in Iran by the IDF's Mossad.

US SEALs/US assets also eliminated ISIS's leader al-Baghdadi.

As well as US assets eliminated Iran's #1 leader of their Spec Ops unit, Gen Suilmani and another top Iraqi Shia Militia Leader. in the same op …

Along with many lower level terrorist/jihadi commanders plus a very large number of AQ, ISIS and Taliban minions and supporters. During the continuing Global War on Terrorism …

AQ has said it will continue attacking the West/Infidels, [that is most of us!] until all leave Islamic lands. This, of course, is a very Small percentage of Moslems that feel this way. Many Moslem nations and leaders are allied with us in the fight to destroy all fanatical radical islamic elements. That are a threat to many in those regions as well as the US, Europe, etc.

So good hunting to all the forces who are trying to rid the world of this terrorist/jihadi threat. The planet will be a much better place without them.

Now, who was it that opposed that raid that is still around?

I can't remember.

Should have brought his head back to put on a spike.
How exactly did treating the body with respect gain us friends?

The Fish of the Indian Ocean!

They got a free meal (even if it did have an unhealthy lead content), and a satisfying splash by way of a dinner bell.

Frankly, however, I always shudder when I learn of someone polluting the sea with industrial/spiritual waste.

How exactly did treating the body with respect gain us friends?

It's not about gaining friends, it's about not creating more enemies and not diminishing the existing good will of friends and allies.

The whole thing was handled about as well as it could be. No publicly released photos of the body and meeting the minimum of funereal requirements denies fuel for outrage. Burial at sea was a neat compromise in preventing a shrine to martyrdom and engaging in an endless wrangle over the location of the body, the rights of the family, etc. Most Islamic scholars who argued that the burial was improper acknowledged that sea burial is not forbidden by Islam, "however…". Once you get that wriggle room, the job is done.

Terrorism uses violence linked with publicity and propaganda, ergo it requires violence, publicity and propaganda in response.

I have heard that quite a few sailors answered the call on nature off the stern of the ship.

I know, Oddball.

He's the guy who Secretary Gates, who worked closely with him for years said, he gets/got virtually every international decision/position wrong.

Of course … but sometimes we "infidels" seem to be doing all the good will stuff. Just say'n …

I agree …

Most Islamic scholars who argued that the burial was improper acknowledged that sea burial is not forbidden by Islam,
From what I can tell many of those scholars will never be satisfied with what the "infidels" do. Again, that is most of us …

Oddball, et al,

And I saw him tell Peter Doocey on camera when reminded of his position on the UBL matter reply, "No. I never said that."

Is Prevagen available as an intravenous drip?

That is a true statement, AFAIK. Hopefully a decision like this will never have to be made anytime soon …
