Wow. How long of a drive is that?

I'm there Friday and running three games Saturday.

Long drive 14.5 hours by road. Probably safest over three days or better to fly.

Not going this year unfortunately.

Hi

Looking forward to seeing everyone very soon. The doors open tomorrow at 4:00 PM for set up. With 120 events, 20 dealers, and over 200 preregistered, we are on track to get 400 attendees. If you can't make the whole weekend, just for stop by for a day. Do some shopping, see your friends, and get a couple of games in. You remember, like it used to be. link

Lombard is a western suburb, around 30 miles west of Chicago city limits. I attended DeVry University there, in 1983-4 (campus closed down a few years afterwards; main campus was in Chicago proper). It is far enough out that the craziness of the city of Chicago proper, will not be an issue.

If I had realized it was in Lombard, I might have planned to attend. I lived in Woodridge and Glen Ellyn, did some gaming in Downer's Grove (neighboring suburbs, nice areas, 38 years ago). Cheers!

I am not going but I am so thrilled this is continuing on. Bodes well for other 2021 conventions. Have fun! And don't forget pictures.

I'm packed and running games Friday and Saturday morning. Looking forward to it.

What's the best food delivery service in lombard? grub dub? Ubel eats?

kcabai29 Apr 2021 8:01 a.m. PST

shthar, not sure which is best, I do not live in the area. I would however choose the Westin's fine hot Buffet served daily from 11:00 Am to 2:00 Pm. Or for before and after those hours, I would treat myself to the Hotel's Yorktown Market.

Fine food at quality prices, and helping the convention reach it's food and beverage minimums. (and no delivery fees)

RKE Steve29 Apr 2021 9:44 a.m. PST

shthar – there are LOTS of places to eat in the area to hard to chose. Portillos is one of my favorites

Monday morning is here and we are adding another Campaign Streamer to the HMGS-Midwest Flag. Total attendance of 391, which was 25% greater than we were forecasting.

We had 19 of the 20 Vendors successfully cross the prairies and make it to Chicago. Their wagons were considerably lighter on the way home, and they were very pleased by that.

A net of 119 games were run, with only 6 cancellations, offset by 4 additional games. A lower percentage than normal times. Our Wounded Warrior Raffle reached $1,300 USD, which overshadowed our previous high of $900 USD (2019)

Overall the turn-out and results were far better than what was projected This Littler Wars was about 60% of our peak operations. (2019 numbers Attendance-800, Vendors 32, Events 210) I would venture to say this bodes well for future cons. The words "Pent-up demand" never rang more true.

Thanks so much to the staff, GM's Gamers and Vendors for putting on a great con. A full AAR to follow after we catch up, on some sleep.
