I play quite a few WW2 land based games solo pretty easily, but I was wondering if there is a set of WW2 naval rules that can work for solo gaming?

The little I've looked I've heard GQ isn't too bad.

Thanks

Battlestations Battlestations by Decision games would work, you can do small or large fights.

I still like the old GQ1 and GQ2.

GQ3 is another option, but a bit more complicated. Not overly so though.

I would agree with all 4 suggestions (GQ1&2 – WW2&1 respectively) as well a GQ3 but that all depends on your preferred level of detail and speed of play desired. Battlestations Battlestations is probably the quickest/simplest but the trade off is detail. All four are in my opinion, darn good at handling a decent size battle. All four also would require the gamer to work up a set of random decision metrics for the OPFOR.

If you give an email I can send you a few pages of an old captured system, not sure where (d Manley? Or and on Magweb)
With reactions and orders allowing for quite a bit of solo.
Then you can have a few cards with positions and deployment, even forces variations for your ennemy and it works, not as much fun as having a human, but..

Late to the party, but look at Minden Games. They have a number of Naval games, with two built for solo play. Gary Graber designs the games and they all are worth playing.

There are 3 or 4 solitaire WW2 submarine games (USA, German, and Italian) similar to this one:

There was an old game from Avalon Hill/Victory Games called Tokyo Express. You played the US Navy and the game randomly generated Japan forces. It wasn't bad
