"The weapon carrier Wiesel is a small track vehicle of the Bundeswehr. Visually, it looks like a toy tank, but it's packed with firepower and power. The 20mm machine gun and the anti-tank guided missile TOW are dangerous weapons. The weasel was designed to be extra small and light so that it can be quickly brought into its field of application by helicopter and transport aircraft. It is probably the most diverse armored vehicle in the Bundeswehr…"

AAA, Anti tank, and anti personnel! That is a lot for such a small vehicle. So surprised other countries don't have a similar vehicle. Wonder how many you get for the cost of a single Leopard2A7 ?

thumbs up E.g. otherwise the best firepower a Light Infantry unit could have is a TOW mounted on a HMMWV, etc. The 82d got some LAVs from the USMC, as 4 can fit on a C-17 vs. only 3 Strykers.

Obviously Light units need the ability to get there quickly with as much firepower are possible. And that may be the rub. Has the 82d replaced the M551 or are the LAVs their only AFVs?

Of course the Russian Paratroops had/have a number of air droppable AFVs too. E.g. BMD, ASU-57, etc.
