"Beijing may consider sending a peacekeeping force to Afghanistan if the security situation in the South Asian country poses a threat to the neighbouring Chinese province of Xinjiang after American troops pull out, analysts said.

US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that he would withdraw all remaining US troops – about 2,500 – from Afghanistan by September 11, the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack in New York…"

Good. Serves them right.

If China keeps the lid on Afghanistan, that's a win-win.

On the other hand, that could lead to Muslim unrest throughout Chinese territory…

Would the Russians let the Chinese integrate Afghanistan into their area of control?

China will send troops to protect their economic interests. (Need to secure that copper mine.)

USAFpilot, that's exactly what I was thinking. They can protect their copper mine with their own people for a change. I wonder what their rules of engagement will be?

Col Durnford Supporting Member of TMP20 Apr 2021 8:48 a.m. PST

ROE simple – you engage them and it will just be the interview for a job for life in the copper mine.

You say so?

I'm already there.

Yes, we talked about this recently … Don't need to repeat my posts … 😎

SBminisguy20 Apr 2021 9:24 a.m. PST

China just wants to strip mine the Rare Earth Minerals in Afghanistan. It's estimate there's as much as a $1 USD Trillion worth of valuable minerals there, and in the process they will lay vast swathes of the countryside to waste as they are doing in China, in Africa and other places.

Irish Marine20 Apr 2021 9:56 a.m. PST

China already is grabbing up every place that is rich in resources.

nickinsomerset20 Apr 2021 10:30 a.m. PST

Irish Marine, bet you don't mean Africa!!

Tally Ho!

They will be discovering the no ROe surprise. And no more news, Welcome to the new boss.

Wonder to know What will China's military reaction be when the Taliban start killing its soldiers or attacking its military buildings …

I think they have a system set up for the Muslim problems in there own country.

Again … TMP link

And Wackamole9 you are correct. As I said in the link above. The PRC/CCP care little about CD. The locals, AQ, ISIS may be running into a force that understands the use of total firepower and non-combatant loses are part of doing "business".

I really don't care how many Taliban, AQ, ISIS, etc. the PRC kills. There is no such thing as too many terrorist deaths, IMO.

Legion 4, not forgetting that the PRC/CCP will not have much in the way of embedded journalists,

Tally Ho!

Of course ! Just like many things the PRC/CCP does … they generally don't advertise it. Unless they want to for whatever reasons. Like their own Chinese moslem genocide.
And they'd just deny it anyway.

Cant think of a better match-up than the Communist Chinese vs The Taliban – may they fight each other ferociously for many years. We should get out of their way and let them have at it.

PS. The Chinese PLA has not fought a war since they invaded north Vietnam back 40 years ago. If they harbour a fantasy of taking back Taiwan by force one day then they're going to need some actual combat experience. They didn't do so well against Vietnam, had their heads handed to them on plates as I recall.

I can imagine the Afghan drug lords rubbing their hands with glee over the prospect of a new market opening up…

Yep and don't forget AQ and ISIS will be in the mix too. Let them all bleed each other out.

Plus the CD and non-combatant losses will be very high I'd suspect … Doctors Without Borders will be very busy. And sadly some of them may suffer loses as well. If the PRC/CCP would even let them in country.
