This weekend left me with a brief period to test my new Kenko extension tubes with a 50mm lens. I made the most of it, but didn't have long enough to do more than form first impressions. That left me with a rough idea on how make use of these in the future. The big change will be the ability to get the lens closer to the miniatures I'm shooting without the image getting too blurry to use.

That is most interesting and thanks for posting a link to your blog. I look forward to your subsequent review.

I am particularly interested to know if these tubes will be useful at taking photo of unit of 30 to 40 forty figures as well as the close ups.

You're welcome! I'll be doing a proper review after using the Kenko tubes long enough to get to know their strengths and weaknesses.

The extension tubes were made for macro photography. They help to get the lens close to a subject while keeping it in focus. For a shot of that many figures, I'd be pulling the camera back rather than pushing it in. It would be interesting to give it a try, though. I'll take some shots for the review and see how they turn out.

Heres a quick sample right out of the camera, no editing. All taken on a full frame camera with a 50mm/1.4 at 160th/f22

I generally use the 20mm when photographing 28mm figures in pairs or singles and the 36mm when photographing 15mm figures

That gives me a pretty good idea of what to try next time. Thanks!

Distances are from the focal plain, not from the end of the lens
