Hello, I'm kinda new to FOW. Im interested in gaming early war. I have purchased the blitzkrieg book and the v3 rules. I have the v4 early and late war rules purchased but it's in the mail. Any pointers welcome. Has anyone done stats for the Renault char D1, D2 or AMC 35? A little off topic, FCM-36? I have all these done up and ready to go from my previous rules used. Also, how did you come up with the stats? Finally last question, any recommended early war flames of war fandom blog or sites? Thanks in advance -Jim

Hi Jim,

I think that Battlefront published a conversion guide somewhere for V3 units to the V4 standard. Try searching their website, this might exist.

Other than that, I am starting with a new set of rules (Combat HQ) where each unit is a platoon and each side runs around 15 platoons. The author sent me the list for France 1940, Germany is in free access. I will depart from my usual 15mm to do this in 3mm.

I am super interested in early war but indeed, using D1,D2, AMC 35 and FCM-36 is not all that common. You are very courageous

I stuck with B1, S-35, H35/39 and R35… I suppose size of wallet and space were the main constraints not to extend to the more exotic models.

PS: I am on the hunt for France 1940 scenarios on my side.

No – the only French tank stats for Flames of War are those in Blitzkrieg and the very limited number in Burning Empires. The Char D1 & 2 don't feature because BF never made a model for them – likewise the FCM-36 – I think the basic discussion was to use the Renault 35 stats. The AMC 35 is interesting – the only time I ever saw this in FOW was in a draft V3 list for the Belgian Army that was on the old forum.

Thanks for the responses. I've toyed with trying to reverse engineer stats to vehicle performance and design. One thing I've noticed is that a vehicles front and side armor has been typically translated too 1 point for every 10mm. Top armor is about 1 point for every 15mm. Be conservative in rounding. Luckily, in the French case, the weapons have been figured out since they pretty much only had two types that were prevalent in all tanks. Now many of these early war tanks were of boxed shaped. The FCM had a decent slope I wonder that would incur a point bonus. I would have to check out a T-34 stat.

Is there a location I can find the Belgian Army list? I have found a Dutch and Norwegian one.
