Today's paper carried the story of the passing of Charles Coolidge, 99 on 6 April. Sgt Coolidge was the oldest surviving WW II recipient of the Medal of Honor. Sgt Coolidge received his Medal of Honor for actions in Eastern France. They joined his Silver Star and Bronze Star previously earned in the Mediterranean theater. With his passing that leaves Corporal Hershel Williams, 97, as the only living WW II recipient of the Medal of Honor. A Marine, Corp Williams received his Medal of Honor for actions on Iwo Jima. |

Thanks for sharing – sounds like a great man; love this quote "there's no glory in the infantry" link |

My son now works at the Fort Bennington Infantry Museum. He attended a special Medal of Honor seminar program. He also visited several MoH dedicated parks. Currently he is also attached to the post COVID expansion of the Infantry Association. He plans to put adverts on the association in several HMGS programs. He attended the National Ranger competition this month. In relation to this post, he has folders of information or sources for MoH. Brian Nelson. Proud of his new positions. |

Truly the Greatest Generation of Americans, RIP Charles Coolidge. |

I don't buy into the hype of 'The Greatest Generation' myth – but neither do I wish detract from the view that these men [and of course some women] did amazing things, deserve full recognition for their extraordinary service and will be missed. It was a special time and gave rise to special people. |
