I had a few moments to spare the other day and took a couple of photos on a bit of a lark. After finishing Hasslefree Miniatures' "Retro Sci-Fi Crew" set, I wanted to see how they looked with Effigy Miniatures' "Havoc Girls" – a group of figures I painted awhile back using a similar paint scheme. I also share some thoughts on the figures, the terrain, and how I'm looking to expand my camera gear to better support macro photography without breaking the bank.

Always good to see different manufacturers side by side.
Interested to see the results when you have your extention tubes. I have just bought a macro lens which is brilliant for getting up close but minimises the depth of field so need plenty of light and big f numbers required.

Shooting mixed manufacturers is something I'm hoping to do more of as I get more of my collection painted.

Low ISO, lots of light, and narrow aperture are the keys for macro photography from what I can tell so far.

I'm hoping to try out the extension tubes soon, but that depends on whatever forces control shipping and my weekend schedule!
