I just spoke to my friend Toby Barrett, the master and commander at Thoroughbred Models. Toby had a motorcycle accident on Easter Sunday. His leg was hit badly, but damage control managed to get him put back together and he is using a walker. His new site is temporarily down until he can get an idea for what he can do in the casting room. Bottom line, he is only temporarily out of commission but will be back to a full head of steam as soon as possible. We wish him well and hope to have he and Thoroughbred afloat again soon!

A couple times when I fell off, my friends would just give me training wheels. Standing joke among motorcyclists…

I hope he recovers quickly. And then expands the 1/1200 ironclads range. grin

ACWBill,
Thanks for this. I went to the website today and saw the "no orders until further notice" posting. I was wondering what had happened.

Toby: Get Well Soon! Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad to hear that you are still (mostly) intact. At least all the parts are still there!

Wackmole906 Apr 2021 4:20 p.m. PST

Indeed get well soon Toby. One of the good ones. Still remember the demonstration he gave at one of the HMGS-South shows on casting. Hauled all that stuff along and gave the demo free of charge.

Heal fast, Toby. Avoid those donor-cycles, please.

mikec26007 Apr 2021 5:11 p.m. PST

My special thanks to ACW Bill for posting this message to you all for me when I couldn't post due to the ‘Verification' thing. Duh! Can I blame it on the meds? Yes, I am down and Thoroughbred Figures with me for the next 12 weeks. I cannot put any weight on my left leg for at least that period and I simply will not risk further injury to my current problem or – God forbid – sustain any new ones. A fall, slip or onset of infection will zero me out and send me back to the hospital. Then the clock starts anew.
So, many thanks for the best wishes. Truly appreciated! I know you've all got those ‘great white fleets' in reserve you can work on in the meantime,,,,,maybe??? It could have been far worse. Life is good. Will keep you all posted.
