I am selling off some of my old miniatures (being ruthless this time!) It's mostly old Grenadier stuff and a handful of other manufacturers. Now Mirliton miniatures of Italy, offers 90% of the Grenadier range, so why do ebay sellers price their old stuff at two or three times the cost of something you can buy new? Is it because they are offering original Grenadier castings? |

Hi Many are listings from mail order companies. Most of their listings are on autopilot and are repost every 30 days. |

There is also a practice of posting some outrageous price to see whether anyone will actually pay it. You get some interesting used book prices on Amazon that way. |

nobody sells at 90% off unless they want to go bankrupt, last time I looked they where the excluding vat price |

I think the OP meant 90% of the old range was available not at 90% off the price…. |

Some people get hold of something old and don't bother to check if it is still "in print/production" assuming it is no longer available. I have seen plenty of in production minis listed as OOP. |

He said 90% OF Marmont, not 90% OFF. |

I don't think there's a market for old/collectible figures like there is for stamps, or coins, or 1930 Bentleys. So, I don't think you're missing out on anything by not using some of those ebay prices as a guide for your own pricing. For me, the hardest part has always been getting myself to the point where I would actually sell something off. I spent a year arguing with myself about whether or not I should sell off my unpainted SCW figures that I hadn't worked on painting for 20 years. Once I did that, listing them, selling them, sending them off, and confirming receipt were pretty much a relief. That being the case, I've usually priced things to get rid of them. Grelber |

What did P.T. Barnum say? I have seen many unbelievable prices on miniatures on Ebay. If someone is willing to pay it, then I refer you back to P.T. Barnum. |

I was at a flea market some years back where some guy was selling horribly painted Old Glory castings as "rare late 19th century tin soldiers" for $ 9.00 a figure !! Always, buyer beware. Russ Dunaway |

Dang Russ I didn't think you were that old! I've seen lots of bizarre prices on poorly painted figures on E-bay as well as high prices on OOP rules. I just pass them by. |

A trawl through eBay listings always brings up plenty of moments these days. |

The idiom / proverb I would quote here is 'A full and his money are soon parted'. If a person wishes to sell and a person wishes to buy, basic economics should dictate the price BUT this is eBay and FOMO rules more than it should :-) I'm just going with 'I am confused over Ebay pricing.' |

Why bring Mirliton into this? Sell for what you want. If it doesn't sell at that price, re-list it lower. Not everyone knows about Mirliton, and you have no obligation to tell anyone that what you're selling is cheaper elsewhere. |
