Yeah I know they are suggestion Black Powder for the game, but was wondering if there were any other rules that might take advantage of the one stand per company basing? link |

Black Powder doesn't do one stand per company (there were 8-10 companies in an ACW regiment). I believe the new Epic stuff expects 1 regiment = 5 stands, and I also heard that the frontage of one stand is 60mm (2.25 inches). My thoughts: 1) Use rules that don't care too much about scale (Black Powder, Piquet: Field of Battle). 2) Use Fire and Fury (either Brigade or Regimental) and count each epic stand as 2 Fire and Fury stands – when you lose 1 stand just mark one of the epic stands as half strength. 3) Use rules where 1 stand = 1 unit. Altar of Freedom and Polemos both use 60mm wide stands. 4) The rules "40 Dead men" (look it up on wargamvault.com) uses 1 stand = 1 company. 5) Larry Brom's "A Glint of Bayonets" uses 5 stands per regiment. Larry's stands are 1.5" wide so you'd want to increase ranges and movement by 50%. 6) On to Richmond uses 2 inch wide (50mm) stands, so you should be able to just use the 60mm wide stands as-is and it would work OK. Note that in OTR one unit represents a brigade with an average of 6-8 stands. |

"A Glint of Bayonets" using 20 figure infantry regiments. |

On To Richmond. At five stands per regiment, you can convert that into a "brigade" for those rules. Each stand is nominally around 300 men for infantry. The width of the stand isn't really that big of an issue. You may need to double up the guns to make a stand of artillery. At least that's what I'm doing. Eric |

I plan on using Longstreet and Black Powder, with an average of three stands per Black Powder regiment. I am pretty sure that with some clever cutting and a few Kallistra figures, you can make half-sized bases, too, for Fire and Fury. |

I'll be using two of my own home rules – "Hearts Touched With Fire" for a brigade-vs-brigade action where each stand represents 80 men, in regiments between 320 and 560, and "Villainous Saltpetre – Epic ACW" for multiple divisions where each stand will represent 600 men. I bought the box just for the troops, and to my great delight the laser-cut Evergreen Cemetery Gatehouse will be a nice diorama addition to my big 28mm "Battlecry" convention game (to be put on for Historicon, whenever that might be). I don't need the Blackpowder rules or supplements, could give them away to a good home. |

Black Powder – but Fire and Fury would work Potentially Volley and Bayonet but I would favour the first two |
