So I have a castle to give to my 3 year o!d grandson, but I'd like to include some factory painted knights with the gift. It looks like 40 or 54mm would work. If there were characters like a king, queen and wizard in the mix, that would be cool. Plate armor preferred, but crusaders vs. Saracens would be OK, too. Anyone have any ideas where I could buy some? I will settle for unpainted. Thanks much!

Don't toy shops have such beasts? if not I am pretty sure you could pick some up from Amazon in their toy section?

Good luck in you search, I hope you find what you want!

Papo figures should fit the bill, if they are too big try Britain's 54mm figures. You can get both types of figures from the Hobby Bunker I'm sure.

They are unpainted but I see some painted in a set. It looks like a bunch of minis and some siege stuff in a couple of the big packs. If you can go unpainted places like Amazon will have them. Definitely more minis/dollar if you can go unpainted. Looking at a few of the sets it looks like 2 different forces so even unpainted they should look ok. Some painted figures are priced pretty high if you are looking at them for a kid to play with (and all that goes along with that) IMO.

For small hands, I think the Papo figures are perfect. Teach him the value of collecting them.

Amazon. Google fantasy toy buckets, and crusaders and Saracens under toys.

Here you go, Safari Toobs. You should be able to find exactly what you need here.

Papo, Schliech, and Safari Toobs are good choices if they must be pre-painted, but the first two are gonna cost you a good bit more.

Keep in mind that 3 years old is still in the range of "I'm gonna chew that" impulse behavior. Not as bad as younger toddler, but watch out for small parts!

Toy stores used to sell sets of plastic knights with a castle, or at least a castle wall and gate.

Might trying checking the toy stores, or eBay for them.

One side had gold colored armor and the other silver.
