Probably one of the the most important codebreakers during WW2, Alan Turing has finally been honored – this time with his image on a new 50-pound British bank note. link You can read more about him at his Wiki article: link Jim Jim |

Not much chance of the average gamer seeing it then if its a 50 quid note. I see 10's and 20's regularly but couldn't tell you the last time I saw a 50. Besides this is an English bank, not a British bank and our Scottish Bank notes are quite different. |

Jim, you are of course correct about the bank. The article does state that it is the Bank of England. My error, being a 'Yank.' And I imagine using a 50 quid note is about the same as one of us using a hundred dollar bill. Still, it is a long overdue recognition for Turing. Jim |

Still, it is a long overdue recognition for Turing. In my early working days I used to communicate computing support arrangements to an Artificial Intelligence department run by Professor Michie who was a protégé of Alan Turing. |

There is a 50 pound note? Who knew? Despite a lot of visiting and working in the UK on and off over the 20 years, never saw one Good recognition though |

Oh yes. That will more than make up for the treatment he received at the hands of the British government. Put him on a note not widely in circulation. Anyone lucky enough to have such a bill will probably not know who he is. What a BS empty gesture. |

He's not on the £50.00 GBP because of the codebreaking. |
