Probably one of the the most important codebreakers during WW2, Alan Turing has finally been honored – this time with his image on a new 50-pound British bank note.

Not much chance of the average gamer seeing it then if its a 50 quid note. I see 10's and 20's regularly but couldn't tell you the last time I saw a 50.

Besides this is an English bank, not a British bank and our Scottish Bank notes are quite different.

Jim, you are of course correct about the bank. The article does state that it is the Bank of England. My error, being a 'Yank.'

And I imagine using a 50 quid note is about the same as one of us using a hundred dollar bill.

Still, it is a long overdue recognition for Turing.

Still, it is a long overdue recognition for Turing.

In my early working days I used to communicate computing support arrangements to an Artificial Intelligence department run by Professor Michie who was a protégé of Alan Turing.

There is a 50 pound note? Who knew? Despite a lot of visiting and working in the UK on and off over the 20 years, never saw one

Good recognition though

Oh yes. That will more than make up for the treatment he received at the hands of the British government. Put him on a note not widely in circulation. Anyone lucky enough to have such a bill will probably not know who he is. What a BS empty gesture.

He's not on the £50.00 GBP because of the codebreaking.
