Anyone remember these? Published in 1974. I found these 3 volumes in an antique store pile of "things nobody wants anymore". I was not alive when these came out, but I appreciate the effort that went into plotting some really obscure places. Ive been researching if some of these places are still available to see and/or look as they did when these were published.

While published long ago, the books are quite amazing and accurate with respect to the larger more popular sites. The author obviously put a lot of effort into these, as evidenced by his dedication:

How does this relate to wargaming? There are some great terrain descriptions at each site he covers. His introductions to each site also give a number of scenario ideas. I used his opening of Saratoga section to skirmish the British taking away some horses recently. Great visual descriptions help make great war-games IMHO.

I have a set of those also and still enjoy reading in them from time to time. Haven't yet used them for scenario ideas but it's a great suggestion that hadn't occurred to me before. I'll be rereading them now with a new perspective.

I believe he also wrote a book I have on the same subject.
