Hello TMP,

back in Novemember last year I got my KS from Things From the Basement for the "farms of Gettysburg" MDF kits. Like all good wargamers, I went ALL IN and got them all (in 15mm), and then let the kits sit in the back of the hobby room all lonely and forgotten for a few months. The fate of most KS's I reckon.

So here we are in March and I finally put some together. I started with the Slyder House and Barn.

The Kits are VERY nice. And it's pretty cool that with only 'meh' effort one can get a nice looking building. It's also kinda cool that since the kits are based on actual buildings you can google image search and see the real thing. Albeit now with non historical aspects like rain gutters and air conditioners.

Modifications I made:
I put some dark blue card on the inside of the windows just so that they don't look inside toward nothing.

I also added some HO scale weathered gray shingles that I bought onto the roofs, just because I like the look of it.
This is not necessary to do.

I really recommend them to anyone who is looking at them. Next time I am in the market for some MDF buildings I'm gonna check out Things from the Basement first. might be awhile though since I still have the rest of the KS to do.

you can see a few more pics and read my witty commentary here on the blog if you're so minded:

Those caught my attention during the KS. They look very nice. Maybe it's the photos, but the buildings look more suited to 10mm? The barn maybe 6mm? I know this is typical. Thanks for the photos.

They are great kits. You did a great job with the farm kits
At the last actual Huzzah (pre-COVID), Things from the Basement was there as a vendor and I picked up the 15mm Russian village kits, and a couple of windmill kits. Just yesterday I was checking the website for planning another purchase for 28mm sci-fi kits to dress up my Star Wars Legion table

Excellent paint work on the buildings, Stew!
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys! Thanks Joerg for making some nice kits.

I think they are ideal for 15mm. My troops might look a little bigger for 2 reasons; 1 is that my ACW are the 18mm Blue Moon miniatures on 3mm bases so are quite tall, and the second reason is that I am bad at taking photos.

I purchased a few of the 28mm main farm houses and they are great. I don't have them painted yet so I can't post any pictures.

Thanks, Stew. All mine are true 15mm. So that makes sense.

Sometimes just have to let that green [MDF] wood age a little…..

Looks like the wait was worth it too!

Thanks Fly. It's true; the wood has to become acclaimed to my house. Seasoned. 😀
