"A trained KGB agent, Vladimir Putin knows how to hide his feelings, but in 2013, after former President Barack Obama described him looking like "the bored kid in the back of the classroom," Putin let it be known that he was furious. And rightly so: kids in the back of the room are rarely ambitious. Putin, from day one of his rule 21 years ago, has had big, ambitious plans for himself and for Russia. A far greater Soviet patriot than a Russian one, one of his first priorities when he became president in 2000 was to recover state ownership or control of the key political and economic assets lost in the Soviet Union's demise: major industries, courts, media, national politics. Then, in his third and fourth presidencies, he turned his ambition to geopolitics: to incursions into Ukraine and Crimea, an alliance with Syria, and various assaults on Western democracies with what the KGB used to call "active measures" recast as cyberattacks…" Main page link Armand |

various assaults on Western democracies Putin doesn't have to do anything; Western democracies are perfectly capable of destroying themselves from within. |

Agreed with USAFPilot – the west and especially the English speaking part of is too busy trying to ban/cancel anything that doesn't suit the whims of woketards – protecting NATO is nowhere near as important as banning Pepe Le Pew or rebadging riflemen into riflepeople or rewriting history. The article doesn't mention one key thing – Putin isn't stupid.
It's actually a recurring theme in western media to assume the other guys ala Putin, Jinping or the North Korean Kims are stupid and will act rashly and stupidly. Somehow ever dictator is recast as Hitler invading Poland in 1939 or Tojo ordering the assault on Pearl Harbour in 1941. The new breed of authoritarian is far smarter. In fact the biggest mistakes conducted globally in the last 30 years were made by western democracies who continuously undermine their own position through dumb decisions (eg Somalia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, SC Sea, Ukraine, Afghanistan, unilateral European disarmament etc etc). |

Putin isn't stupid. He held back under the last administration, he may be willing to push this one. |

Always asks yourself, why? If you talk about somone obviously clever as hell, exoerienced and judo adept, nothing utterly silly will come unless there is an advantage. Or trap him into no choice. He would if forced to defend the Russians in Donetsk, Lugansk , Estonia. He has to, no one else would. |
